DETAILS

Explore the six acres of the historic Wallace Place on a guided Wallace Center tour that brings local history vividly to life. Co-led by Salaam Green — Birmingham’s inaugural Poet Laureate and author of The Other Revival: Poems and Reckonings, a work inspired by the experiences of Wallace ancestors and descendants — the tour weaves poetry, history, and place-based storytelling. Visitors will learn about the lives of people who lived and labored on this land during the antebellum period and the Jim Crow era. Through historical interpretation and creative reflection, participants are invited to consider resilience, memory, and legacy in the very landscape where these stories unfolded. This immersive experience offers space for learning, connection, and meaningful dialogue grounded in history and art.
